Plant Mover (Non-Operational) training is aimed at those who are required to drive/move items of plant, without necessarily opearating it for its intended purpose.
For example, many delivery drivers involved in the plant & tool hire industry will load/unload the machines and take them to their desired location on site, but wouldn’t necessarily use them for their main purpose (e.g. excavating or lifting loads).
Covered in this course is an overview of legal responsibilities; hazards that exist to plant movers and what they can do to minimise risk to themselves and others; carrying out pre-use checks on the equipment and familiarising themselves with the operator’s manual; preparing it for transportation; navigating restricted spaces and safely parking the equipment.
The types of plant are separated into their primary function (e.g. lifting, earthmoving, access or other); wheeled or tracked; and rigid or articulated.
Training is also available as an in-house qualification.
